An Apartment State Of Mind

If one thing’s clear about the culture here at Fairfield, it’s that Integrity, Mutual Respect, Passion, Transparency, and Trust are more than the core values our organization runs on. Their essence is in the DNA of every one of our associates. The perfect summation of the vibe here at Fairfield? Kindness! That’s why we encourage our associates to get out into their communities and commit acts of kindness!
In celebration of World Kindness Day, Random Acts of Kindness Day (hey, that’s today!) and every day in between, we love giving back. Check out these examples to get a small taste of how Fairfield associates spread kindness.
The team at Talia Apartments divided and conquered all the tasks that needed to be done at Marlborough Community Cupboard. Together, they fulfilled grocery orders and helped people in need of winter clothing prepare for the colder weather.
Web Developer Arlene Agcongay pulled weeds, aided a compost pile, and learned a lot during her volunteer effort at The Solana Center. This non-profit organization addresses environmental issues and focuses on composting, zero waste, and water conservation. During this monthly event, volunteers tackle various projects to help to maintain the Center’s grounds.
Boardwalk Senior Affordable Apartments Maintenance Technician Matthew Strickland volunteered for a non-profit that completed a solar installation on a low-income apartment building where the power goes directly to the residents, lowering their bills. He flew his drone to help get footage and photos as proof of the installation and for outreach purposes.

Senior Vice President of Training and Development Sue Essa and San Diego corporate associates across departments (including Accounting, Investment Management, HR, Construction, Construction Management, and Training & Development) volunteered together! At Feeding San Diego‘s impressive facility, this group sorted, packed, and prepared food deliveries for San Diegans in need.
Regional Interior Designer Managers Aimee Langston and Emily Moore and Interior Design Assistant Rebecca Romero weeded vegetable gardens during their acts of kindness at Bonton Farms in Dallas. Bonton Farms consists of two fully functioning farms, a farmer’s market, and a coffee house, all of which are used to address the barriers local residents face when it comes to access to essentials like nutrition information, healthy food, jobs, health, wellness, stability, and education.
Regional Supervisor Nena Gonzalez along with some of her Houston associates and the entire Ascent at City Centre Apartments team supported the Houston Food Bank. More than 100 Houston communities collected food to support HFB this year! Our teams were proud to help pack and sort the food for delivery and work in the garden to supply fresh produce.
Senior Vice President of Affordable Housing Gina Metzger got her whole family involved to help with Thanksgiving meal assembly at Sun Valley Kitchen & Community Center in Denver, CO.
Senior Staff Accountant Loida Mendoza and friends delivered turkey meals with classic sides to eight schools to spread the Thanksgiving spirit. They were able to feed 113 families— an estimated 678 to 904 meals!
