An Apartment State Of Mind
January 24, 2022
As a leader in the multi-family housing industry, we have a responsibility to listen to what our customers want and to keep up with the trends for top apartment amenities whenever possible. With multi-generational interests in mind, we offer a diverse portfolio of apartments in 31 different markets across the United States. From studio apartments and those with 1, 2, 3, or even 4 bedrooms to townhomes and lofts, you are sure to find something that suits your needs… All with top-flight amenities included in the floor plan.
The days of cookie-cutter interiors are waning. One of the biggest apartment amenity trends is the variety of different design packages available. We know choice is important to our residents, so Fairfield’s design team has embraced current lifestyle trends to offer different design package choices within a community. Features include modern colors and cabinetry finishes, wood-style flooring, and pull-out faucets.
Fresh color schemes in whites, greys, and light earth tones are complimented by classic subway tile or mosaic-tile-design kitchen back splashes in whites, greys, sage or graphite blue.

Flooring trends are moving away from carpeted living areas, and Fairfield designers have embraced wood-style plank flooring. If you don’t like the wood floor look, you might prefer contemporary polished concrete flooring, which is also making an appearance instead of carpet. Continuous flooring ties everything together with the common open-concept kitchen, where kitchen islands with storage and pendant lighting are also growing in popularity. And no worries — carpet-lovers will still typically find carpeted bedrooms for that plush, cozy feeling.
Q21 in Portland, OR, Vero in Chelsea, MA, and Alivia in Whittier, CA (pictured left to right) show off a variety of modern textures.
Discerning cooks will love the trend towards Energy Star stainless steel appliances. This includes built-in microwaves, refrigerators with ice makers, and dishwashers. In-home washers and dryers are having a hay-day as well. Depending on the size and floor plan, you might find full-size front-loading units or stackable ones. Either way, laundry is a breeze.
Soothing ceiling fans in bedrooms and living areas complement central air and heating units with programmable thermostats. You deserve to control the temperature in your home, and the trends know it.
Sleek amenities at Morea in Pompano Beach, FL and Atley on the Greenway in Ashburn, VA (pictured from left to right) make it easy and efficient to take care of daily responsibilities.
Does your dream bathroom have have glazed ceramic tile or porcelain tile flooring? Maybe even a Roman style soaking tub? Perhaps an oversized shower suits you better. Bathroom amenity trends are skewing towards luxury, spa-like experiences. Dual sink vanities and framed vanity mirrors add an elegant touch for that indulgent, relaxing, retreat-like feeling.
Alivia in Whittier, CA, Block 334 in Houston, TX, and Rize in Irvine, CA (pictured left to right) offer spacious bathroom escapes.
Are you one of the many who had to repurpose your closets into home office space? Enhance your mood and move out of that “clofice!” You can have your large oversized closet and built-in desk, too. We know work-from-home is a trend that’s here to stay. That’s why we’ve even added the practical convenience of USB charging outlets and built in shelving in some locations, like pictured here at The Perch PDX in Portland, OR.
